At Zen-Do Bahrain we teach you kickboxing in a non-contact, non-violent and fun environment. Zen-Do is a type of kickboxing. Kickboxing is a martial art that combines the kicks of karate with the punches of boxing. Kickboxing can be broadly classified into two types: the first is Thai Boxing (also known as Muay Thai), which originates from Thailand. Muay Thai is a brutal, full contact martial art which uses kicks and punches as well as elbow and knee strikes. Low kicks to the legs are allowed and fighters do not wear much protection except for boxing gloves on the hands.
The other type of kickboxing could be classified as ‘western’ kickboxing. Here, knee and elbow strikes are not allowed and all punches and kicks must be above the waist. Also, fighters wear protective pads on their feet and shins, as well as boxing gloves.
Zen-Do is a western style of kickboxing developed by British, European and World Kickboxing Champion Master Rafael Nieto. Its roots lie in the traditional art of Wadu Ryu karate. Zen-Do literally means ‘all paths’. It is not bound by tradition, which means it is constantly evolving, nor is it just physical in nature; it represents the development of the mind, body and spirit in a continuous cycle.
